Won the Welsh National Premier league in 2000/1 to return to the Cymru Alliance after a period of difficulties both on and off the pitch.
Were able to bring their Clappers Lane ground up to Alliance standards and have since retained their place.
The history of the present club dates from 1946 although it is known that the club existed in the 1920s.
Gresford remained in the Welsh National (Wrexham area) league until the introduction of the Cymru Alliance league in season 1990-91 when it became one of the founder members of the league.
Athletic remained.
During the four-year period the club reached the league cup final losing to a very strong Rhyl side at Flexsys Cefn Druids.
