Despite the disappointment of the Foot & Mouth outbreak bringing a premature end to the 2000/1 Mid-Wales League programme, when Guilsfield were well-placed for promotion, the merger of Llangefni and Glantraeth created a vacancy in the Cymru Alliance.
Guilsfield's application was accepted and the club finishing in a creditable 15th place in its first two seasons, improving to sixth place in 2003/4.
