Gap Connah's Quay fail in licence appeal
GAP Connah's Quay failed to win promotion to the Welsh Premier League after their FAW licence appeal was rejected.
Already crowned Huws Gray Alliance champions, the Nomads will be forced to spend at least one more season in the second tier.
Quay were hopeful of achieving the licence after upgrading their floodlights and carrying out other work at the Deeside Stadium.
The decision means a reprieve for Bala Town and Newtown, who were due to fight out the remaining relegation place on the last day of the season.
But there was joy for Afan Lido, who are currently lying second in the Macwhirter Welsh League, and who can ensure promotion with three wins from their final three games and a return to the domestic top flight after an absence of six years.
Welsh Premier clubs Bala, Llanelli and Neath were also also successful in today's appeals process.
