Bucks prepare for the new campaign
BUCKLEY Town manager Gareth Thomas has been busy re-shaping the squad whilst running the rule over several potential new signings in the three sessions the players have had to date.
With the season just around the corner, the club's first friendly is being played this Saturday at home to Welsh Premier League champions Bangor City.
"Although the game this weekend probably takes place a couple of weeks early for our squad, I am keen to help Bangor out with their preparations for their European game next week," says Thomas (pictured).
"At this stage of our preparations we have got the majority of last seasons squad already signed whilst also adding young forward Danny Drazdauskas, who has moved here after moving down from the Middlesboro area.
"We have lost defender Jack Rowlands to Gap Connahs Quay whilst midfielder Liam Jones has also left the club. Midfielder Gareth Caughter is unlikely to feature in the early part of the season as after missing the back end of last season with a groin injury. His operation was cancelled last week leaving him in limbo and waiting on another date to be set.
"We hope to announce a couple of new signings by the weekend. We have identified which players we want at the club to improve the squad and they have been training with us but at this time of the season they are also talking with other clubs before deciding their own futures. With several players still away on holiday we hope to have the squad complete within the next 10 days."
The following players have all re signed for the coming season: Jamie Hulse, Stuart McIntosh, Paul Armour, Joe Freeman, Gareth Edwards, John Leonard, Jack Dalgado, Jack Chaloner, Wes Brereton, Terry Pugh, Ant Williams and Neil Wynne.
